The right CRM is the one that saves you hours every week and lets you leave cleanly. Judge every option, ours included, against the same list.
Follow Up Boss describes itself as a CRM built for fast-growing teams, with a built-in phone system, two-way texting, apps for iPhone and Android, and more than 250 integrations, per its own site (checked 11/01/2026). The same page offers a 14 day free trial. Plenty of agents and teams run their whole business on it. Others start looking because they want the AI to do more of the work, want fewer separate tools, or want deals and commissions in the same place as their leads. This guide gives you a fair way to compare.

Seven things to check
What the AI actually does
"AI" covers a lot of ground. Some tools draft messages for you to send. Some summarize calls after they end. A few hold the conversation themselves. Follow Up Boss announced Smart Messages (checked 11/01/2026), AI-suggested text and email replies based on a lead's recent activity and past conversations, and its post tells agents: "Review each message before sending." It also offers AI call summaries and transcripts (checked 11/01/2026) for people using its calling feature. Both are useful. Neither is the same as an AI that picks up the phone and books the showing. Decide which one you need, then ask every vendor to show it live.
What is in the base seat
Add-ons change the real cost. Follow Up Boss help articles refer to a calling add-on (checked 11/01/2026) for calling and texting from the CRM, and say texting needs an approved business registration first. Most business texting in the US now goes through carrier registration, so ask every vendor who handles it and how long it takes. Then write down what each seat includes and what costs extra: phone numbers, texting, the dialer, AI features, websites and extra users.
Integrations or built in
A big integration library means you can connect almost anything. It can also mean paying for, and logging into, several tools. For example, Follow Up Boss says voicemail drops are not built in and lists partner apps that add them, per its help center (checked 11/01/2026). That is a fair design choice. Just count the tools you would still need next to any CRM: dialer, AI texting, e-sign, transactions, a listing writer and a splits sheet. Our comparison page has a quick counter for exactly this.
A phone app that does the whole job
Follow Up Boss offers an iPhone app (checked 11/01/2026) and an Android app, with an inbox for calls, texts and email. Whatever you pick, test the app on a real showing day: can you see the lead, call, text, move a deal and send homes to a client without opening a laptop? Also check whether newer features, like AI tools, reach the app at the same time as the desktop.
Compliance that runs on its own
Look for fair housing checks on AI-written listings and ads, consent tracking before AI calls or texts, quiet hours, opt-outs that work right away, recording notices and the brokerage name on every message. Ask whether these are rules inside the product or habits each agent has to remember. Our guides to fair housing wording and AI phone answering cover what to test.
Deals, paperwork and splits in one place
Lead CRMs focus on leads. That is their job, and many do it well. Once a deal goes under contract, though, a lot of teams move to a separate transaction tool and a commission spreadsheet. Ask whether the alternative keeps the contract dates, documents, broker review and split statement on the same record as the lead, or whether someone will be copying data between systems every week.
The move-in and the move-out
Switching hurts when you rebuild everything by hand. Ask who moves your contacts, notes, tags, deals and drip campaigns, whether people who opted out stay opted out, and what it costs. Then ask the opposite question: how do you export everything if you leave, and in what format?
Score your current setup
The kinds of alternatives
"Alternative" can mean replacing everything or just fixing the part that slows you down. These are the main categories. They are general, so check each product for its current features.
| Category | Examples | Good for | Ask about |
|---|---|---|---|
| All-in-one platforms | BoldTrail, Lofty, RealtyMind | One login for CRM, site, leads and marketing | What the AI does on calls; contract length |
| Lead CRMs | Sierra Interactive, Real Geeks | Lead management and integrations | Which add-ons you will still need |
| Transaction tools | SkySlope, Dotloop, Lone Wolf | Contracts, e-sign, broker review | How it connects to your CRM |
| AI texting add-ons | Ylopo AI, Structurely | Following up on leads by text | Voice calls, hand-off, consent tracking |

Where RealtyMind fits
RealtyMind is one option, built AI-first, with the lead inbox, phone, listings, transactions and splits in one system. It is in private pilot today. Here is what is in it, from our features page:
- Sofia, the AI front desk, answers calls and texts on the brokerage and agent lines 24/7 with real two-way voice conversations. She qualifies buyers and sellers, books showings and warm-transfers hot leads to your phone.
- One lead inbox. Zillow, Realtor.com, Homes.com, Facebook, your site and open houses land in one place and route by area, price, language and agent load. Follow-up stops the moment a lead replies.
- Leo, your AI assistant, takes a call or text from the car: "What's my day?" or "Send the Kaplans the three condos."
- Ivy, the AI marketer, writes listings and posts in your brokerage's voice, and a fair housing check runs before anything posts.
- Tess, the AI transaction coordinator, builds the timeline from the contract, chases signatures and files the folder for broker review. Commission splits and statements live in the same system.
- Compliance stays on. AI calls and texts go only to people who opted in, STOP works right away, Sofia says the call is recorded, and no showing is booked before a signed buyer agreement.
Free trial, free move-in of your data, no setup fee, month to month. Pricing is announced at launch.

- What is the minimum term, and how do I cancel?
- How do I export all my data, and in what format?
- Who moves my data in, and do opt-outs carry over?

Can I move my Follow Up Boss contacts to RealtyMind?
If you can export it, we can move it. Free move-in of contacts, deals, listings, notes and documents is planned at launch, and people who opted out stay opted out. See how switching works.
Does RealtyMind's AI answer phone calls?

How much does RealtyMind cost?

Do I have to cancel my old CRM first?
No. Keep it running side by side and cancel only once you have checked everything in RealtyMind.
